eDNA is transforming the way we understand marine ecosystems. By capturing trace genetic material directly from the water, we can detect a broad range of species without disturbing habitats. EnviroDNA distributes innovative marine sampling technologies—including an autonomous sampler that collects eDNA continuously and at depth—to improve coverage, accuracy, and efficiency. These tools help generate high-resolution biodiversity insights, even in remote or challenging offshore environments.
The RoCSI Sampler by McLane Laboratories
Increase marine sampling efficiency with the RoCSI sampler. It is compact yet can handle high sample counts—up to fifty or more. This autonomous oceanographic sampler works at depths of 6,000 meters. It collects and preserves water samples in standard Sterivex™ filter cartridges for eDNA analysis.
Introduced in 2023 from the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), RoCSI can gather many samples in a compact design. It uses a user-selected fixative to preserve samples, allowing for fifty or more based on power and storage. An optional bleach flushing system reduces cross-contamination.
RoCSI is adaptable for various uses, including vehicles, mooring systems, buoy mounts, bottom landers and ships. EnviroDNA distributes the RoCSI marine sampler in Australia.
