Innovative eDNA Sampling Technology
We have designed eDNA sampling kits and distribute leading sampling equipment. eDNA sampling involves collecting genetic material from the environment using straightforward techniques. From these samples, we can monitor biodiversity, understand ecosystem health and also detect threatened or invasive species. Our analysis expertise covers a wide variety of environmental sample types, including water, soil, scat, sediment and even air.
Here's how eDNA projects work.
We listen to your objectives and work in partnership to design a strategic project.
Our eDNA sampling kits are simple to use and include detailed instructions to ensure accurate sampling, regardless of your team's experience level. We also have advanced sampling products for freshwater and marine environments to enhance efficiency of large-scale and technical surveys. Or, we can handle the sampling for you.
Once we receive your samples, we perform eDNA analysis. For Target, we use qPCR methods to extract DNA based on your chosen species and determine your detection results. For biodiversity assessments Screen & Atlas, we apply DNA metabarcoding methods to determine your monitoring results. Next, we groundtruth the findings using external, independent data sources for added confidence in your data.
You receive your detection results. For every project, we provide advisory support to help you interpret and understand your findings.
eDNA sampling kits
Expertly designed to minimise contamination in the field, each kit comes with comprehensive training to ensure you have the resources and knowledge needed for successful sampling.
Sampling is safe and non-invasive, minimising OH&S risks and environmental disturbance.
Samples can be collected swiftly, resulting in rapid surveys that save time, money and resources in the field.
With minimal training, anyone can perform eDNA sampling. It is undertaken following a quick training session with easy step-by-step instructions.
We partner with leading eDNA sampling technology developers to provide you access with cutting-edge sampling solutions.
Leading eDNA sampling technology engineers, Smith-Root and McLane Research Laboratories design expert equipment for aquatic and marine ecosystem sampling. This equipment enhances the speed and efficiency of sampling in aquatic and marine ecosystems, making it ideal for large-scale or long-term monitoring projects.
Smith-Root
Water eDNA sampling equipment
We distribute Smith-Root eDNA sampling products in Australia and New Zealand. Designed by scientists and engineers, Smith-Root provides the best possible environmental DNA sampling systems on the market. These systems enable rapid collection of water eDNA samples to simplify the process of large survey, repeated or technical sampling.
McLane Labs
RoCSI eDNA Marine Sampler
The Robotic Cartridge Sampling Instrument (RoCSI) is a proven autonomous oceanographic sampler, capable of reaching depths of 6,000 meters. It collects and preserves water samples for eDNA analysis. This sampler is compact yet can handle high sample counts—up to fifty or more.
